From our humble beginnings out of a VW van, The Gendarme has stood the test of time, becoming one of the last true climbing shops in the nation. We are here to outfit you with the best and latest in climbing equipment, as well as to be a resource to help you navigate and get the most from your time at Seneca Rocks.
What we’re all about
For over fifty years, The Gendarme has been the hub of our climbing community. A place to start your climbing day, pick up a last minute piece of gear, or seek local knowledge. And also a place to gather at the end of the day to share exploits and laugh at our own folly. Much like Seneca Rocks itself, The Gendarme belongs to countless generations of climbers. We are mere caretakers of this space and its history.
